(Edit: 17 th august 2009 recap of this post) In this article, you’ll find links to download my burn down/up graphs as xls-sheets also containing formulas for analysis of a given iteration/sprint. It’s been developed in an agile matter, continuously adding new features and improvements as the feature requests and demands arrived.

And summer is coming closer! I’ve been sitting on the porch, reading newspapers, enjoying the sun and eating tons of ice cream. Fantastic! Thought this was a post about the Spring Framework? I’ll save that for later. After using Spring, JPA/Hibernate, hsqldb, FitNesse, jetty and oracle db in my last project I’ve got several drafts for this blog. I’m a bit of coward sometimes, postponing to publish my articles until they’re perfect, which is the only thing they’re never gonna be! Soon I’ll post what I’ve been working on about TDD in Spring/Hibernate environments. I think it’ll be valuable writings for the reader, it’s certainly made me a better test-driven developer! I’ve also got drafts about FitNesse, hsqldb, burndown/-up, Continuous Integration Lamp Control script for Bamboo, for some. As always, I’ve got lots of free time and little to do in my projects ;) But as I am posting this I’m committed and there’s now other option than to follow up and deliver!
Yes, spring’s back! This years qualifications for the Norwegian National Championship (NM) in football (soccer) is over. My team, 3.div club Mysen, has qualified and we’ve been so lucky as to draw the top league (eliteserien) team Fredrikstad! Follow updates at www.mysenfotball.no. I’m a winger and this is one of my many dreams coming true. I’ll be playing Raymond Kvisvik, Tarek Elyounoussi, Casey Wehrmann, amongst others! That’s comparable to competing with Jeff Sunderland, Mike Cohn and Tom Gilb in an agile/scrum contest! We’re welcoming Fredrikstad at our home pitch in Mysen, an hour south of Oslo, a small community with about 5600 citizens. Between us and Fredrikstad there are two divisions, 1.div(Adeccoligaen) and 2.div (the lowest division is 8.div). The 1st round of the cup is considered a walk over for the elite-teams meeting 3.div teams, but it’s loads of fun!
MYSEN MØTER FREDRIKSTAD
Sted: Mysen Idrettspark
Dato: Mandag 12. mai
Kampstart: 18:00
This is a real folkefest and you’re all invited to join in! Now my norwegian-english even contains norwegian words ;)

It’s been a time since my last writing. I know it’s a bad excuse, but I’ve had so much to do. I got hired for a project from end of September (still there) and I’ve been very busy preparing the Smidig2007 conference.
Smidig is Norwegian for agile. It went really well, I learned a lot and had lots of fun. It was held 27. and 28. November and had over 20 equally aligned sponsors, 260 participants, 86 lightning talks and a 100 open space groups. We wanted to profile the conference as a community of the agile movement of Norway. We were 13 people behind it and really appreciated all the enthusiasm, skepticism and reflections made by the highly active participants.
I had a lightning talk myself “Synlighet – Bidrar til økt produktivitet, fokus og motivasjon i team og prosjekt” (Visibility – Leads to increased productivity, focus and motivation in the team) which is all about all the visual elements one may introduce in a Agile/Scrum/XP environment. Such as Scrum-board, waste snake, retrospectives, post-its with color codes etc. I showed lots of pictures. You may find it here http://smidig.no/smidig2007/talks
I’ve been asked to do the lightning talk at SW2008 in February as well. I’m flattered and looking forward to meet yet another group of enthusiastic IT people.

As I currently have a lot of free time on my hands, I’m finally able to start my too-longly-planned blog. I’ll give my best to keep it short and concise, while writing enough to make it worth while reading!
When reading about or trying out a new product, every professional immediately makes up his personal opinion, with pros and cons. This applies to books, articles and work processes/methodologies encountered, as well. That’s exactly what I’ll try to capture in this blog. My highly subjective opinion. What else might I offer? Don’t be alarmed, I consider myself pragmatic and reflective. Please do provide your professional comments! Probably you’ll catch my interest and have me reading and commenting my blog as well!
